Funeral Service Monday For Fallen Marine

WOODBURY, Minn. (AP) -- A young Marine who lost his life while serving in Afghanistan will be laid to rest Monday.

Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sgt. Ian Williams McConnell. The 24-year-old Marine from Woodbury was part of the explosive ordnance disposal and was killed July 6. McConnell had recently been accepted into the Marine's Special Operations Command.

A funeral will be held Monday morning at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Stillwater.
