Aide: Bachmann Up For Rigor Of Race, White House

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- An aide to Republican Michele Bachmann says the Minnesota Republican can withstand the rigors of a campaign and the stress of serving as president.

Spokeswoman Alice Stewart rejected a report Tuesday that severe migraine headaches have limited Bachmann's ability to campaign in the past. She says the implication that Bachmann's health would keep her from carrying out the job of president is "just not true."

The online news site The Daily Caller reported Bachmann's past migraines have led to hospitalizations and left her "incapacitated." The story cites former aides granted anonymity.

Stewart refused to discuss Bachmann's medical history in detail. But she says Bachmann has been campaigning intensely for more than a month in "stressful, hot" conditions without incident. Stewart says Bachmann's migraines are treated successfully with medication.
