Uptown Robber Gets 6 Years In Prison

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Minneapolis man will serve six years in prison in connection with the May robbery and assault of a 61-year-old man in the Uptown area of Minneapolis.

Michael Alex Dean Boyce was charged May 20 with robbery and assault in one of the six violent robbery cases that plagued that area of Minneapolis.

Just before 10 p.m. on May 10, a 61-year-old man was attacked by two men in the 2500 block of Pillsbury Avenue just after he got out of his car, according to a criminal complaint. The victim was beaten on his face and head and got fractures on his face and nose. Boyce and the other man then took his wallet, the complaint states.

Boyce was sentenced on a felony first-degree robbery charge and had charges for third-degree assault dismissed. He will serve his time in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.
