PAYNESVILLE, Minn. (AP) — The Ramsey County medical’s examiner is identifying the 73-year-old man found in Rice Lake in Stearns County earlier this week and reporting that he died of drowning.

He was Lee Hackert of Paynesville. He was found in the water on Wednesday evening next to a boat lift.

The sheriff’s office says deputies were called about 6 p.m. Wednesday to Eden Lake Township, which is about 4.5 miles east of Paynesville on Rice Lake.

The caller said her husband had gone down to the lake to pull out a dock, but she was no longer able to see him. When Paynesville police went to check it out, they found Hackert unresponsive in the water.
