LA CRESCENT, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a Mississippi River bridge struck by a runaway barge is structurally sound.

A barge clipped the bridge spanning the Mississippi in La Crescent Thursday afternoon releasing two other barges from the tow. WXOW-TV says no one was hurt in the incident and no cargo was spilled.

A bridge operator inspected the metal bridge and found damage was minor. Boat traffic in the area was halted until the barges were secured.
