St. Paul Woman Takes Home Decor Business On The Road

ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- After 15 years in a corporate marketing job, a St. Paul woman has decided to take her dream on the road. Now, her mobile store is turning heads all over the Twin Cities.

A month ago, Angela White Smith's new business, Uniquely Attainable, literally pulled into the home decor market. The business is housed within an old school bus painted white and filled with lamps, furniture and pillows.

Rather than renting a space, Smith bought a bus.

"I just had this idea pop into my head about how I could actually afford to launch my own home decor store and I said, 'my goodness, what about a bus?'" Smith said.

There are items -- refurbished by herself -- at all different price points.

She keeps her clients up to speed on her whereabouts on Facebook and Twitter.

"Oh my goodness, social media is so important to this business," she said.

She's hoping all the stares she gets while on the road will add up to sales.

"I love that energy and excitement people give to me on the bus. It's really cool because they've been so supportive," she said.

Smith gives inspiration back at no charge. She wants her mobile store to get others to pull over for their own possibilities.

"That's what the American spirit is all about. Follow your dream," she said.

Smith is going to give her business venture a year to see if it catches on. She is still trying to figure out where she can and can't park.
