MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Thousands of people or businesses owe Wisconsin a total of $759 million in unpaid state taxes.

Nearly 20,000 names are listed on the state’s delinquent tax website. When the state launched the website in 2006, it included only the names of those who owed at least $20,000 in taxes, interest and fees. Two years later, the law was revised lowering that amount to $5,000.

Department of Revenue spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis says those that enter into a payment agreement aren’t listed on the site. The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports in the fiscal year which ended June 30 the state collected about $17 million in delinquent taxes.

Does anyone want to wager that they are all wealthy right winger?

    1. Jake says:

Latrell Spreewell was NUMBER ONE on the list. Do you think that he voted for Walker in the last election?

  2. Dave Campbell says:

That was my first thought. Am guessing that some of it went to support Scott Walker!

  3. lotsa libs says:

20,000 liberals on the list for sure. Can’t handle money but sure can spend it.

    1. Jim says:

I’ve been told repeatedly by Republicans that liberals don’t need to pay taxes, so it must be all those hard-working, tax-dodging Republicans who are stealing from Wisconsin. That’s the GOP way–reduce taxes to the point where a few loopholes will get you out of paying them altogether.

      1. lotsa libs says:

Nope you are thinking of federal income taxes that the libs don’t pay. Recall that it is now an astounding 51% that pay no federal income taxes. The numbers for the state are somewhat smaller. Jim you sound like a person that has never earned a substantial income and likely then has not paid federal income and likely few state income taxes. It’s OK but just admit it and be sure to thank those that pay your way. By the way, you are welcome. When you are a liberal and hence a democrat out of necessity, what kind of life are you really living?

        1. Jim says:

What a stupid post. You think you know something about me? LOL.

It’s good to see a Con admit that liberals pay state taxes, I guess. The rest of your post is garbage. That 51% includes children and retired people, so the percentage of working-age people who don’t pay federal tax is very small. But you already knew that. I realize that these are complex issues and my Republican friends are too busy demonizing unionized fire departments and fretting about two guys getting married to really focus on the facts. Keep up the good work.

          1. lotsa libs says:

Jim we all know that there are subsections in that 51%. The broader point is how quickly that number is rising. Again though Jim, to the point you seem to be quick to defend those on the dole. I’ll say it out loud Jim. I make a lot of money, but only use the most basic services and even those should be privatized however I use none of what is draining the state. Why should I pay so much more than you and your ilk who pay little to nothing but use the bulk of the thing my tax dollars fund. Is it punishment for a more difficult occupational choice and not slacking off in school and college? The simple fact is if you are defending what you are defending, you are one of those draining off the system but are apparently blinded by your entitled mentality. The cat is out of the bag Jim it’s time to come out of the shadows and admit you are entitled to other people’s money. At least if I could hear the words I wouldn’t feel like I was being so taken advantage of. Again you are welcome and now go back to playing your Xbox.

            1. Jim says:

Children and retired persons are not subsections of your false percentage. They are not part of the percentage at all but are added to the figure deliberately to mislead. That’s a pretty lame tactic.

How quickly is what number rising? The number of working-age adults who choose welfare over a job? Please link to some statistics to back up your assertions. Take out the children, the retired, the sick and disabled, and how many working-age adults who are capable of working do not pay taxes?

The bulk of your post is utter nonsense. Since you can’t argue the facts and feel the need to make this personal, I’ll just point out that I have a college degree, have held the same full-time job in my chosen profession for more than 10 years, and have never received welfare of any kind from federal or local governments.

Now see if you can construct a post that doesn’t personally attack an anonymous poster on the internet who you couldn’t possibly know anything about. (I won’t be holding my breath.)

              1. Ha ha Jimmy says:

@jim, 10 years at the same job, i’d let you go just because someone hasn’t recruited you out yet. I don’t know about lots libs but your journalism or other useless degree barely counts. Since you are doing so well, you may just want to give more of your money instead of committing others hard earned pay. I’m with you lots libs, jimmy is clearly on the dole.

                1. Ronald Raygun says:

You just proved the point of the person you attacked.

                2. Jim says:

“10 years at the same job, i’d let you go just because someone hasn’t recruited you out yet.”

That makes a lot of sense if you don’t think about it. I’m sure that’s an incredibly successful business model. You make “a lot” of money? LOL.

So you’ve got nothing. No facts, no point, just ranting and raving, stupid assumptions, false statistics, and terrible grammar. I doubted you could make a post with any facts or one that wasn’t full of lame insults, and you proved me right. That’s fantastic.

I WONDER IF KEVIN IS ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ANSWER ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Kevin says:

Yep, I am on the list of people that owe money. You need to make a minimum amount of money to owe taxes (that number gets higher everyday with the poverty consisting of owning one large flat screen tv and 2 cars.)

    1. Ron says:

      Huh? Please explain.

  6. Common sense says:

LOL! Pull there political membership cards! LOL! This would be something I’d pay to see!

  7. O-done-a says:

Why the hells bells doesn’t MN have a site like this? Would be a good read and really push a tac in the arse of evaders.

  8. realist04 says:

Taxes, that is for other’s to pay…. the liberal’s motto.

    1. another right wing dumba$$ says:

      1. MARK says:

And apparently it’s only one liberal’s motto. I wonder who that is?

  9. JKB says:

If Wisconsin taxpayers owe that much, it makes me wonder how much Mn is owed .Dont call the kettle black just yet.

  10. Common sense says:

$759 Million in taxes owed?!? Get the hounds out! They should round all those people up and have them pay up!

If that’s happening in Minnesota, I hope we do the same. Taxes are taxes, well off or not. PAY UP!!!

    1. Jake says:

But then Latrell Spreewell would claim ‘racism’ because of all that chit that happened down in Alabama and Missisippi some 50 years ago. Can’t have that.

  11. Jake says:

Did you see who is at the TOP of the LIST?? Latrell Spreewell. Yep. He owes over 2 or 3 MILLION DOLLARS. Also check out the lists by CITY. See how many owe MASSIVE taxes from Milwaukee or it’s surrounding suburbs. GEE, I wonder how many of these cities voted DEMOCRATIC in the last few elections.
If Wisconsin could dump Milwaukee into Illinois, I’d bet that the REST of the state would be a gem to live in, in most places. Also note how many tax dodgers have left the state.

  12. Citizen says:

Here is some history on why the wealthy are delinquent on their taxes. Because they can use the money to make money and know the tax courts will allow them to settle for a much lower percentage on the dollar than their ACTUAL TAX bill. So, in effect tax evasion becomes a tax cut for them. They bargain down their tax bill.
