Charges: Man Held Girlfriend Hostage After Texts To Ex

CHASKA, Minn. (WCCO) – A man from Chaska is accused of threatening his girlfriend with a knife and holding her hostage inside their home after finding she sent text messages to an ex-boyfriend, according the charges filed by the Carver County Sheriff's Office.

Police said the man got upset with his girlfriend after discovering the messages, kicked her chin and took her phone. He then grabbed her, held two knives to her throat and threatened to kill her. The man also wouldn't let the woman leave the residence.

The next day the incident was reported to police. Officers found the man and arrested him. He was charged with second-degree assault, false imprisonment and terroristic threats, all felonies. He was also charged with domestic assault, a gross misdemeanor.
