NE Minn. Farm Showing Off Poultry, Pasture Success
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A farm couple is showing off its success in raising poultry and rejuvenating pastures in northeastern Minnesota.
Jeff Hill and Cindy Hale are giving tours of their Clover Valley Farms near Duluth on from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday to highlight their research in pasture rejuvenation, which is supported by state and federal sustainable agriculture grants.
The couple has some pastureland they want to rejuvenate and they're researching whether grazing chickens or hogs will improve the quality of the pasture.
Hall and Hale say that in year two of this three- year project, the pasture rejuvenation is obvious and they hope to translate that into increased profit for their poultry operation. They expect the results to be widely applicable to small-scale pastured poultry operations in the western Great Lakes region.
