Arrest Made In St. Paul Hit And Run

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – St. Paul Police said Friday they have arrested a man in connection with the hit-and-run accident earlier this week that killed an elderly man.

Gregory John Larsin, 21, turned himself at St. Paul Police headquarters at about 11:30 a.m. Friday. He has not yet been charged in connection with the incident.

"Since the day of the crash there's been a concerted effort to find Mr. Larsin," said John Keating, St. Paul Police spokesman. "We're happy today that we do have in custody. We can now move forward with this investigation."

He has not yet been charged in connection with the incident, but has been booked at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center.

Roger Tetu, 78, was killed Tuesday after being hit by a car at the intersection of North Earl and Margaret Streets in the Dayton's Bluff area of St. Paul.

Police located the car involved in the hit-and-run crash on Thursday in ally several blocks away from the scene.

Neighbors in the area said Tetu was picking up street litter in the area when he was hit. Now flowers, letters and signs are posted along the street.

"Somebody like that should not be on the street," said Sonya Humes, a neighbor. "Regardless if you're right or wrong you're supposed to stop."

Humes said the stretch of road has had its fair share of tragedy. She recalled last year a crash involving two cars, one carrying a baby.

"A lot of time skids will just whip right through the intersection over to the park," said Humes. "Five years ago I saw a kid get hit there."

Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.

The daughters of Roger Tetu did not want to comment Friday. They said they're in the process of making funeral arrangements and would appreciate privacy.
