Man Survives Fall Of 55 Feet From St. Paul Bridge

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A man has survived a fall of about 55 feet from a bridge in downtown St. Paul.

Police say 20-year-old Stefon Banks was crossing the bridge with friends and hopped over a railing he thought had a landing on the other side. Instead Banks fell to Raspberry Island below.

Authorities say Banks was conscious when police and paramedics arrived. He was taken to Regions Hospital where he was listed in critical condition Thursday, but improved to fair condition on Friday.

St. Paul public works spokeswoman Shannon Tyree tells the Pioneer Press Banks was crossing the bridge on driving lanes that are not for pedestrians.

I don’t think it’s the first time this happened, 2 men jumped from the bridge a few years ago and died.

Maybe they need signs on the bridge about jumping.

Apparently, this guy and his buddy were having an argument before he jumped. Looks like he was wrong in the argument, because he doesn’t have a leg to stand on! badump, bump! :p

I guess you should LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP.

Had to be after midnight. Just had to.

  6. Max Power says:

Really ? You think we should require a sign that warns everyone that if you jump, you get thrown off or even fall off this structure, you will not stop until reaching the surface area below at a relatively high speed.
Serious injury or death could & likely will result.

    Thanks,
