Mankato Mayor: Excitement Building for Vikings Camp

MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) — Thousands of football fans are expected to visit Mankato in the coming weeks to watch the Minnesota Vikings at training camp.

Mayor Eric Anderson said more than 30,000 visitors are anticipated, and it doesn’t hurt that another big name quarterback has joined the team — Donovan McNabb.

“Here comes a chance for them to see, in person again, one of the stars of the league. So yeah, I think it adds,” said Anderson.

The mayor said the economic impact on his city is estimated at $5 million.

  • Lots of hoopla, Zygi ... but we still want you to pay your own way.

Rah, rah all you want. We still don’t want to pay for a Vikings stadium when there are so many necessary use of public funds.

  • Real Talk

I am honestly probably one of the biggest Vikes fans around. But unless ol Frazier has some magic he has been hiding up his sleeve…the Vikings are going to blow chunks this year. Our defense is older than father time and our offenisve line is a joke… wont win games without those two units. Mark my words. We are at least 3 years of rebuilding out of contention for a Ring. The year we blew it at the NFC champ game against the Saints, was our last legit shot for a while.
