Suspicious Discovery At Fed Bldg. By Ft. Snelling
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials were brought in to investigate a suspicious discovery made overnight at the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building near Fort Snelling.
Police evacuated the building on Federal Drive in St. Paul after a security guard at the building found what was initially believed to be explosives. Bomb experts were called in to the scene.
The Federal Protective Service was brought in to investigate the situation.
"The Federal Protective Service responded in coordination with the Hennepin County Police Department to a suspicious package," said spokesperson Chris Ortman. "The package has been secured and was deemed harmless following an investigation."
Closer examination of the items revealed they were simply road flares.
There is currently construction going on outside the building.
