Charges: Attendant Assaulted Woman In Front Of Kids

HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) – A 20-year-old Burnsville man is accused of assaulting a woman in front of her children after she refused to have a sexual relationship with him, according to criminal charges filed Thursday in Dakota County District Court.

Nur Abdikarim Yusef was charged with third-degree assault and interfering with an emergency call.

According to a criminal complaint, Eagan Police responded to a residence on the 4500 block of Slater Road at about 10:20 p.m. on July 29 after a 911 call was left open and dispatch was able to hear yelling and screaming in the background.

Yusef, who at one time was the woman's personal care attendant, was at the woman's residence while her two children were home. Yusef had asked the woman to have sex with her several times while he was her personal care attendant, the complaint states.

On that day, the woman let Yusef into her home and he again asked her why she wouldn't have sex with him. She became upset that he was asking about that in front of her two children, and they began to argue, the complaint states.

Yusef then allegedly grabbed the woman by her face and pushed her against a wall. She grabbed her phone and started to dial 911, and he proceeded to knock the phone out of her hand and struck her on her left breast with his forearm, the complaint states.

The woman also told police he grabbed her by the wrist at some point, and police officers noticed marks on her neck and a bruise on her cheek from being grabbed.

Yusef went to police, according to the complaint, and said the woman would try to file a false police report against him and that she was harassing him.

Medical personnel arrived to treat the woman and as she was on the way to being transported to the hospital, she collapsed and lost consciousness. Authorities learned that she had suffered bleeding to her brain and skull.

Police spoke with the woman's children, who had the same reports to police that the victim did. If convicted, Yusef faces a maximum penalty of six years in prison and/or $13,000 in fines.
