Man's Body Recovered In Lake Minnetonka

LAKE MINNETONKA, Minn. (WCCO) — The body of a man who has been missing in Lake Minnetonka since Saturday has been recovered.

The man, said to be in his 40's and from Minneapolis, was found in 70 feet of water around 6:16 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

He was found in Lower Lake North.

Officers said the man disappeared in the water around 7:36 p.m. Saturday after he jumped from a boat into the lake. He swam to get his friend's jet ski untangled from some of the seaweed, but then struggled while swimming back to the boat.

Friends tried to rescue him, but couldn't get to him and he drowned.

Since then, officers had been searching for him with sonar equipment and dive teams.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the victim.
