Woman Escapes Attempted Armed Robbery In Chaska

CHASKA, Minn. (WCCO) – A woman fled on foot after she was confronted by a man with a gun demanding her purse on Thursday at a Chaska car wash, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 3 p.m. at the Peterson Car Wash on the corner of Crosstown Boulevard and Parallel Street.

The woman was confronted by a man who was displaying a handgun and demanded her purse. The victim fled from the scene, and the suspect ran off in the opposite direction, police said. He was last seen running between two apartment buildings on Crosstown Boulevard.

The suspect did not obtain any property from the victim, the victim was not injured in the incident and no shots were fired, police said.

A witness at the scene called 911 to alert police. Authorities followed with a search for the suspect, who remains at large.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a black hat and a shirt with red, white, gray and black horizontal stripes and plaid shorts.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the man's arrest. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Chaska Police at (952) 448-4200.
