WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty says he doesn’t have to win the upcoming Iowa straw poll to come out of that contest with momentum for his campaign.

The Iowa Straw poll on Saturday in Ames is an early test of candidate popularity and organization.

Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Pawlenty says his campaign must show some progress but doesn’t have to beat all rivals in the straw poll. The former Minnesota governor says the real objective of his Iowa campaign remains the statewide caucuses that begin the GOP nominating process.

Pawlenty has been building his presidential campaign for well over a year, but he has struggled in his effort to rise in national and statewide polls.

Timmy is downplaying the beat-down that he is going to experience in Corn Country. To be the biggest loser among losers might finally bring some humility to King Timmy.

You are a zero and hopefully thats what you get in the straw poll

So once you realize that you can’t win, all you have to say is that you don’t need to win in order to have success?

Is this not the very definition of cognitive dissonance?

He excels in it, as do many hard-core conservatives– and hard-core liberals for that matter.

  4. Murph says:

Sure sounds like reality has done booted Timmy in his shoe filled behind!

Bachmann is gonna mop the floor with T-Paw..What an embarrassment!

Pawlenty also thinks he did a bang-up job as Governor of Minnesota.
