Minneapolis Ranked 9th Of The Most Walkable U.S. Cities

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- We know that the Twin Cities metro is one of the best areas in the country to ride a bike, but the cities are also the place for walkers.

Walk Score has released a list of the most walkable cities in the country and Minneapolis ranks ninth.

The website scored St. Paul and Minneapolis separately, and because it did, Minneapolis ranked in the top 10 with a score of 69.3 out of a possible 100.

The two cities would've scored a 65.5 if scored together.

Neighborhoods on the east bank of Lake of The Isles, Loring Park, Lowry Hill near Mueller Park, Metropolitan State University Campus, and downtown near the Target Center boosted the city's ranking into the top 10.

According to Walk Score, 13 percent of people who live in Minneapolis need a car to perform regular daily tasks.

New York City, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago top the Walk Scores list of most walkable cities.
