Names Released Of 2 Killed In Blue Earth County Crash

BLUE EARTH COUNTY, Minn. (WCCO) -- The names have been released of the two people killed in a crash involving a car that authorities were looking for after they received a driving complaint.

The accident happened around 12:30 Sunday afternoon on County Road 90 in Blue Earth County.

Mark Chalin, 23, of St. James was driving a Chevy Cobalt eastbound on County Road 90 when it crashed head-on with an Oldsmobile Alero heading westbound, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, identified as 35-year-old Jonna Martin of Lakefield, and a passenger in the Chevy, identified as 23-year-old Amber Menezes of Mankato, where both killed in the crash.

Chalin is currently listed in critical condition at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Before the crash, the state patrol received a driving complaint about the Chevy Cobalt. Authorities were responding to the area to look for the vehicle when the crash happened.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
