MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Gophers forward Trevor Mbakwe scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as team USA defeated Mexico 108-67 in the World University Games on Saturday.

Mbakwe was one of five players to score in double figures in the win for the Americans. The tournament is being held in China.

Mbakwe, who led the Big 10 Conference in rebounding last year, is returning to the Gophers for his senior season. He weighed his options and playing professionally over the summer and decided to come back to school for his last year at the University of Minnesota.
