Burning Hay Bales Block Stearns Co. Road

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) — Police are investigating after a number of large bales of hay were found burning on a Stearns County road.

According to the county sheriff’s office, deputies found three bales of hay blocking County Road 17 in Holding Township at about 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies removed the bales, along with some corn stalks that were covering the road.

They returned at 4:30 to find the bales back on the road, this time on fire. The Holdingford Fire Department put out the flames.

A couple hours, later, another burning hay bale was reported on St. Anna Drive, which was extinguished by the Albany Fire Department.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 320-251-4240.
