Mike Max’s News And Notes For 08/16

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Minnesota Gophers finally land a basketball player from Wisconsin, Minneapolis holds out hope on the Vikings, and Dave Winfield weighs in on the Twins. It’s all part of this week’s news and notes with Mike Max.

People who know say former Vikings offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie is very content out of football and is pursuing his music interests.

Gophers head coach Jerry Kill not only invites the public to practices, he has thank you notes written to people who sign in.

Rice Lake Wisconsin’s Wally Ellenson had several big schools watching him this summer before committing to the Gophers basketball team last night. He also played with a Minnesota team this summer.

Former Gopher Royce White had 12 rebounds and seven assists for Iowa State in an exhibition win in Italy.

Hall of Famer and St. Paul native Dave Winfield is in Minnesota over the weekend.

He says you might want to move some veterans, but, if you are the Minnesota Twins, you better be careful not to move too many.

“All ball clubs, if they wanna win, if they want to compete, you know, postseason, you better have some veteran players. Someone who has been there before,” said Winfield.
