Man Sentenced To 30 Years In Prior Lake Murder

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (WCCO) – A Prior Lake man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday in Scott County Court for the 2008 murder of Ruth Anne Maddox.

Charles Maddox Jr., 45 at the time of the incident, was accused of killing his wife in her condo's garage in November of 2008 while the couple was going through a divorce. He admitted to killing her, but said he did it in self-defense.

The incident was first reported when Ruth Anne Maddox did not show up for work and was reported missing. Police went to their residence on the 16000 block of Timber Crest Drive SE and obtained a search warrant. They would find her body.

Charles Maddox Jr. was ordered to serve 20 years at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. He must serve the other 10 years on supervised release and pay $8,517.56 in restitution.
