Police: Man Claims Prosthetic Leg In Trash

MENASHA, Wis. (AP) -- The mystery of the lost prosthetic leg in Menasha has been solved.

Menasha police Officer Aaron Zemlock tells the Appleton Post-Crescent a city resident called Wednesday to say he thinks the limb found in the trash Aug. 4 is one he discarded.

Zemlock says the leg was left in a house and the new owner decided to dispose of it. The limb was put into the garbage, but the foot was still visible. Someone took it and turned it in to the police.

The newspaper wrote a story about the found limb on Tuesday.

Zemlock says the caller was able to able to describe the limb and said he didn't know it had been turned into the police. Zemlock says the limb will probably not be disposed of.
