St. Cloud Man Accused Of Stealing Veterans' Benefits
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A St. Cloud man has been charged with allegedly stealing veterans' benefits, the United States Attorney's Office announced Thursday.
A federal indictment unsealed Thursday charged Mitchell George Pederson, 51, with one count of theft of government funds.
According to the indictment, from June 1, 2006 to June 1, 2010, Pederson allegedly stole Dependency and Indemnity Compensation benefits that were being paid to Pederson's mother, who died in 2004.
The benefits should have been terminated after her death, but Pederson was allegedly depositing the benefits into his account.
If convicted, Pederson could have up to 10 years in prison.
