Dayton Orders Flags Lower For Fallen SEAL

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton is ordering that the flags be lowered at state and federal buildings in remembrance of a Navy SEAL from Minnesota who was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

He's 31-year-old John Weston Faas, a 1998 graduate of Minnehaha Academy High School. Dayton says Faas earned several medals, including a Bronze Star.

Faas was among 30 U.S. troops killed when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan on Aug. 6.

Dayton ordered the state and U.S. flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Monday. The governor's proclamation says the funeral will also be Monday.
