Vandals Smash Dozens Of Car Windows

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minneapolis Police say vandals smashed dozens of car windows Saturday night in south Minneapolis, but didn’t steal anything.

Police say it appears it was done with a baseball bat between midnight and 1 a.m. overnight. Officers received reports that a total of 126 vehicles were vandalized.

The vandalism occurred over several blocks — between the 2900 block and the 4300 block and between the 19th and 30th avenues south of Minneapolis.

According to police, the suspects were possibly two men in a pickup truck.

Authorities say it seems the vandals’ intention wasn’t to steal anything, but just to cause damage.

Police believe there are more vehicles that were damaged that haven’t been reported yet. Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call police at 612-673-5703.

Punks at their worst. Real men… oh wait a minute…..NOT!!!

My car was one of those damaged. My insurance has a $500 deductable, and it will be an out of pocket expense. Without full time work, it is a hard thing to have happened. As someone who believes wicked people can change – I do jail and prison ministry – I hope these guys are arrested and convicted and made to reimburse the damages by selling their truck. They need to repent and have deeds of repentance.

I agree with Kent, that comment that was made to you was ridiculous, rude and absolutely uncalled for. He/She should be ashamed of himself. My thoughts are with you, and I hope everything works out for you as well. There is no reason for the kind of vandalism and violence in the neighborhood like this, just as there is no need for moronic comments like the one made to you.

I think that when someone steals or damages something that doesn’t belong to them, they should have to work hard labor until they earn enough money to pay for it, then be given the money in cash only long enough to see and feel it before they hand it to the person whose things they took or damaged. It’s the only way they will understand that people have things only because they work hard for them, and that only hard work replaces those things. Maybe they would even forget that they could have the same if they worked hard.

      • hunnybear18

learn that they could have the same thing if they worked hard, geez, don’t know where that came from.

Here what you do went these punks are caught. Nail their scrotum to a log. Set it on fire and hand them a rusty razorblade. That should make them think next time.

  • Kent

Now someone else is using the name Kent here.
This whole line-up of racist comments makes me sick. I can’t believe there is still people that think like this.
    I’m out of here!

    • Mike

      Oh shut up!

  • Iconoclast

Perhaps the cops should ask for alibis from local Safelite employees.

    • Mike Hock

what a lame comment..go back to your job search.

    • Kent

perhaps you should ask youself who really even cares what you have to say or think…go polish Bruce’s toenails or somethin!

Unfortunately if they get caught they probably will get away with a slap on the hand. It probably wasn’t really their fault. Last time my property fell victim to vandalism / theft the long arm of the law said their wasn’t much they could do. They didn’t even want to write up a police report “it really isn’t worth my time” said the officer. I hope we can wake up soon and start punishing crimes like this as they should be punished. I like the nail and rusty razor blade idea. I also don’t care what color they are this behavior is totally unacceptable.

Street Justice. Catch them & then use that baseball bat on their heads.

Actually this is a favorite tactic of ‘glass repair’ shops, damage dozens of vehicles in your ‘business area of infulence’ and even if the people call another shop many will get turned away for lack of the right glass or too much of a wait time. look at local glass shops, especially ones that are struggling, then look at the pick ups they use. Race probably has nothing to do with this, this is a pure economic move. 100+ vehicles isn’t someones racial rage….100+ vehicles is da__ hard work, especially in the middle of the night while stressing about the cops or cameras and witnesses. Glass shop suspects!

  • Girly girl

I know. I’ts really depressing, isn’t it? Schools and parents. When they both fall down, this is what you get.

the police can say it was a baseball bat, but then again they didn’t go out to one of the cars vandalized. take a number or go online, r.t. and chief dolan need to keep their numbers down, so making it hard to report works to their advantage. it was a pellet gun and a coupe of punks in a van. i was there. maybe the popo want to talk to the people impacted. since it was south side and not kenwood/isles that ain’t going to happen.

We need harsher punishments. Make people think twice before committing crimes.

Shutup, you are stupid for being so hateful.

    • jeff

em you should click “reply” so we know who you’re calling stupid.

if you do thousands of dollars worth of damage they ought to work the sweat out of you in order to be recompensed. people who are financially stable (not always) are not typically found guilty of a crime like this. you can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip. put em to work……..(pun intended)

    • @em0886

Someday you’ll own a car maybe..When welfare gives em away.

      • jeff

and someday dorothy will give you a brain.

  • me

    …whoever did this….find them…and shoot them…

  • jeff

wow. they looked like they were really enjoying what they were doing. that is a great deal of damage. i think it’s time to reinstitute slave labor.

  • Carrie Krouse

sounds like the exact same thing that happened in my neighborhood and to my parent’s car a year ago….

  • Lydia

I am also the owner of one of the cars with a smashed window. These vandals also smashed my dad’s car’s back window. I find this is just a useless waste of time and senceless.
