State Fair? There's An App For That

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- You hear it all the time, "there's an app for that." You can now add the great Minnesota get-together to that list.

The Minnesota State Fair app is available for download through the Apple App Store and the Android Marketplace. It's designed to help fairgoers find anything and everything they'd want.

"We figured, let's put our resources into an app that makes it easier to people to navigate the fairgrounds find their favorite foods, attractions and events that are going on," says spokesperson Brienna Schuette.

Finding your way around is made easier by the app showing your location and the location of whatever it is you're trying to find. You'll want to make sure to enable the app to use your current location.

The app's search feature is fairly easy to use. If you're looking for a specific booth or type of food, the app will list your options along with the specific location. For example, if you're looking for the new breakfast lollipop at Axel's, one would simple search "breakfast lollipop."

It will work the same as if you were looking for T-shirts, an exhibit, or finding out when and where to catch a live performance.

Downloading the app is free. The State Fair intends to keep it that way because it's looked at as an information service.

To help out with cell phone reception, new mobile cell towers have been added around the grounds.
