FBI Makes Arrest In 2005 Minneapolis Murder

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police arrested a man  in connection with a 2005 murder where another man was shot in the head while going to a barbeque.

FBI officers arrested Romero Spellmon, 26, at a home in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Officers said Spellmon was wanted for the April 2005 shooting Richmond Dunbar.

On the day he was killed, Dunbar, 29, had been going to a barbeque in Minneapolis with his two brothers and another friend

The group arrived at the house at 3718 Oakland Ave. S., but as they were walking up to the home, shots rang out.

Police were called and found Dunbar with one gunshot wound to the head. He was brought to the hospital, but died.

The FBI's Minnesota Fugitive Task Force said they recently got information that led to Spellmon's arrest. He is booked into the Hennepin County Jail.

The task force is made up of investigators from the Minneapolis Police Dept., Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI.
