Mexican Presbyterians Break With U.S. Over Gays

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Presbyterians in Mexico are breaking ties with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) because of differences over homosexuality.

The theologically conservative National Presbyterian Church of Mexico voted to stop working with the U.S. denomination. U.S. Presbyterians voted last May to remove barriers for ordaining people in same-sex relationships. The churches share a 139-year history and a network of social service ministries that spans the Mexican-U.S. border.

Presbyterian leaders in the United States said Wednesday they are saddened by the decision and hope to find a way they can continue helping the needy in Mexico and along the border.

The vote by the Mexican church was announced as a group of theologically conservative U.S. Presbyterians meet in Minnesota to debate whether they should break with the denomination, which is based in Louisville.

By all means, love whomever you wish. But be aware that bigotry and discrimination can find any reason to oppress and subjugate without personal provocation-this is the nature of religious absolutism. My personal observation is that no individual person wishes to be perceived as a hateful bigot; this is why people form congregations of like-minded supernaturalist to claim a divine sanction for the hatred. Peace.

Ugh..conservatives. If it weren’t for them and their prudish uptight twisted perspectives the world would be a much nicer place.

Wow. A church that actually adheres to the scripture it professes to be the Word of God rather than appeal to the popular position of expediency.

The Mexican government might have to consider building a wall to keep all the Christians from sneaking into Mexico.

Typical comment from a person who fails to understand what scripture says and relies only on how it reads. The aweson inclusive love of our mutual Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will prevail.

I dare any Christian to read through a few Atheist web sites (one of my faves is TheThinkingAtheist ) and then decide if maybe they’ve been brainwashed into religion.

PEOPLE ARE WAKING UP FROM THE DREAMS AND DELUSIONS
