Man Charged In Minneapolis Home Invasion

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with an Aug. 26 home invasion, where the victims were threatened at gunpoint, assaulted and robbed.

Derrean Darnell Hogan, of Minneapolis, has been charged with three counts of first-degree aggravated robbery, one count of second-degree assault and one count of first-degree burglary.

According to the criminal complaint, Hogan and two other suspects forcibly entered a home on Aldrich Avenue South in Minneapolis, woke up three victims inside and demanded items.

Police say one of the men, later identified by the victims as Hogan, was armed with a gun. They said Hogan and one of the victims engaged in a fight, at which point one of the other suspects broke a bottle over the victim's head.

The three men fled the apartment, after taking a plasma TV, jewelry, cash and cell phones.

Police later located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect and attempted to pull the car over. The driver fled the scene to north Minneapolis where all occupants jumped out of the moving vehicle and continued to flee on foot.

Officers located one of the fleeing suspects, Hogan, in an apartment on Emerson Avenue North and found evidence in the vehicle that linked him to the home invasion.

The victim in the robbery was transported to the hospital where he received 14 sutures for contusions to his face, arms and back. He also suffered two fractures to his face.
