Twins To Recall RH Hoey For Last Month

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins will add right-hander Jim Hoey to their bullpen for the final month of the season.

The Twins announced Thursday they'll recall Hoey from Triple-A Rochester in time for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Major league teams were able to expand their active rosters Thursday beyond the regular 25-player limit.

The hard-throwing Hoey was obtained during the offseason in a trade with Baltimore that sent shortstop J.J. Hardy to the Orioles. He has already had two stints with the Twins this season that didn't go smoothly. He appeared in 17 games, throwing 14 innings with eight walks, nine strikeouts and a 7.71 ERA.

With the Red Wings, Hoey had a 3.83 ERA in 42 1-3 innings with 21 walks and 38 strikeouts.
