2 Residential Units Destroyed In Shoreview Fire

SHOREVIEW (WCCO) — A townhouse fire resulted in significant damage to two residential units in Shoreview Saturday, but there were no injuries, according to authorities.

At around noon, authorities were called to the 5700 block of Prairie Ridge Drive for a fully-engulfed townhouse fire. The Lake Johanna Fire Department and other assisting agencies battled and eventually stopped the fire.

The unit where the fire started is a complete loss. The family was out of town at the time.

Three other families were displaced due to smoke and water damage. One of the families, which consists of two adults and one child, is being assisted by the Red Cross with emergency food and shelter needs.

Neighbors told WCCO-TV that they heard some sort of explosion prior to the fire.

Authorities are working to determine the cause of the fire.

My family and I saw the fire on the way to the zoo. We were really afraid that people were in there…thankfully everyone is OK.
