Family Of Slain UW Student Still Looking For Answers

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The parents of a University of Wisconsin-Madison student killed more than three years ago are renewing their plea for help in solving the case.

Brittany Zimmermann was strangled and stabbed after someone forced open a door to her apartment building in April 2008.

Her mother, Jean Zimmerman, says someone knows who killed her 21-year-old daughter and she's begging for someone to come forward with information.

Wisconsin State Journal reports the second annual Brittany Zimmermann 5K Run/Walk will take place Sept. 17. It benefits a fund that helps law enforcement solve crimes by offering money for information leading to arrests.

Last year's event raised about $20,000. There is also a $40,000 private reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Madison police say detectives are still actively investigating.
