Nurse Charged With Stealing Oxycodone From Patients

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 27-year-old woman is charged with three counts of felony theft after authorities say she stole narcotic pain medication while working as a nurse.

Bobbie Lee Beck, of Le Sueur, Minn., has been charged for stealing the medication from Hennepin County Medical Center, while she was employed there as a nurse.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Beck stole oxycodone on several occasions and from at least three different patients in July.

"Abuse of pain medication is a national epidemic and we are seeing an increase in cases of medication theft," said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek in a released statement. "Medications have been stolen from homes, health care facilities, pharmacies, and elsewhere in recent months so I urge everyone to closely monitor supplies and report suspicious activity."

According to the criminal complaint, Beck told police she used the oxycodone for her personal use.
