NEENAH, Wis. (AP) – The next White House Christmas tree will come from Wisconsin.

Tom and Sue Schroeder of Neenah are co-owners of Schroeder’s Forevergreens. Last month they were named grand champion Christmas tree growers at a convention of fellow growers.

That means the Schroeders will have the honor of presenting First Lady Michelle Obama with the official White House Christmas tree in late November.

The tree that won the championship title was an 8-foot-tall Balsam fir grown in Marquette County. A report in The Post-Crescent of Appleton says that tree has already been recycled.

But the Obamas will get one that’s more than twice as tall. White House officials are expected to visit the couple’s 160 acres of trees throughout Marquette and Waushara counties to pick an 18 1/2-foot evergreen.
