Twins Blog: Sounds Of The Ballpark

By: Tracy Perlman and Melissa Martz

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There are sounds you expect to hear at when you go to a ball game, like the organist and vendors selling beer. But there are other sounds fans have become accustom to -- the music.

That's not a coincidence. The Twins Blog spent a game with the Twins music director, Dan Edwards. From batting practice until the gates close after the game, he is responsible for pumping music through Target Field's speakers. Edwards plays between 90 and 110 each game, though some are repeats because they're the player's walk up songs.

If you're not hearing the songs you like, you can send Edwards a request through Twitter, his handle is @TwinsTunes.

Another familiar sound at Target Field, or any ballpark for that matter, is the organist. Sue Nelson has been entertaining Twins fans for 13 seasons. You can see her play, and strike up a conversation with her, in the bar area next to section 215.

Each player picks their own walk up music. There was one exception for the Tuesday, Sept. 6 game. Rookie Joe Benson was called up from the minors and hadn't told the team what song he wanted. Edwards let the Twins Blog pick it for the night. We went with T.I.'s "Bring 'em Out."

This was the line up and walk-up song playlist for the rest of the team:

Benson: T.I. "Bring Em Out"

Plouffe: Led Zeppelin "When The Levee Breaks"

Mauer: T.I. "What You Know"

Valencia: Maino "All The Above" and DJ Khaled 'I'm On One"

Parmelee: Foster The People 'Pumped Up Kicks"

Hughes: Sweedish House Mafia "Miami 2 Ibiza"

Tosoni: Benny Benassi "I Love My"

Dinkelman: Red Hot Chilli Peppers 'Can't Stop"

Rivera: Don Omar 'Hasta Abaja
