MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital received a nice grant on Thursday morning in the form of $100,000.
The big check came from “Hyundai Hope on Wheels” and the Twin Cities Area Hyundai dealers.
The money will be used to study how cancer treatments affect children’s brains and also track their academic progress. Hyundai says it will contribute more than $43 million to pediatric cancer research in 2011.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to showcase, in childhood cancer awareness month, the real issues of childhood cancer and its effects from finding new cures to making lives better for children with cancer,” said Dr. Brenda Weigel with Amplatz Children’s Hospital.
More than 800 Hyundai dealers in America contribute to the Hope on Wheels program.
