DeRusha To Anchor Sundays, WCCO Launches Saturday AM Show

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Jason DeRusha will be co-anchoring the Sunday 10 p.m. news, it was announced by Brien Kennedy, WCCO-TV Vice President and General Manager.  Effective immediately, DeRusha will join anchor Liz Collin, meteorologist Lauren Casey and sportscaster Mark Rosen to round out the Sunday night team.  "Good Question" will be a regular segment on Sunday nights as well.

"Jason is best known for his role in 'Good Question,' but he's also been a fill-in anchor on many of our newscasts for several years," said Kennedy.  "He has a loyal following and will now have an opportunity to make even greater connections with our viewers anchoring the Sunday 10 p.m. news."

Also, WCCO-TV will launch a new Saturday 8 a.m. newscast beginning Sept. 10.  The hour-long show will feature WCCO-TV anchor/reporter and Maple Grove native, Jamie Yuccas, along with newcomer meteorologist, Matt Brickman, with live reports from Rachel Slavik.

"We know that news doesn't stop on the weekends and our viewers expect the latest news and weather from WCCO-TV," said News Director Mike Caputa.  "We've now created another opportunity on Saturday mornings with this hour-long newscast."

Along with reporting the day's news and weather, the Saturday show will feature regular segments.  One of these is called "Best of Minnesota."  Viewers will be encouraged to send in their ideas about what they think are the most fun and interesting places in the state.  Then newcomer Matt Brickman will select one each week and do a feature on it.

Another regular feature will be "Mama V".  Frank Vascellaro, along with his mom, Rosalie "Mama V" Vascellaro, will be cooking up her favorite recipes each Saturday morning.

WCCO-TV is part of the CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
