NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (AP) — A 19-month-old child is dead after a farm accident in Clark County.

The county sheriff’s department says someone called 911 at about 5 p.m. Thursday reporting a child being run over by a skid steer.

Officials say a relative was moving hay bales when the infant was accidentally hit.

The child’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

What a nightmare in real life for these people. Safety can not be overemphasized when working with heavy equipment. It is to easy to learn bad habits and never think twice because the mindset of always doing it that way then it takes less than a second for a tragedy to happen. These folks need lots of support, please don’t get on here and tear into them but take the lesson from it to be careful whether you are urban or rural.

Safety can not be overemphasized , nor can the STUPIDITY of the parents.

You weren’t there Jeff. And you aren’t qualified to analyze anybody’s stupidity other than you’re own.

@Jeff… Thanks for the tactless comment…
Like the parents need to be told that now!
Save your breath and hope no tragedy comes your way…

        Thank you Chuck!!!

So Jeff, how many near miss accidents have you ever had? At some point any near miss is a potential fatality. Kids learn new things exponentially and maybe the person running the skid loader thought the child was in the house but the child just learned how to open a door and go out into the yard. I don’t know but that is a possible way this could happen. Toddlers are always learning a new way to be independent and some can be hard to keep up with. Parents know this is true, sometimes it can turn into tragedy. I bet you don’t smell your own stink either after you flush the toilet.

How sad that this can be your mentality… I pray you never know what it’s like to lose a child in an accident where you could have even an iota of responsibility. I hope the family can rally together in this time and find comfort somewhere.
