Dayton, Lawmakers Leave St. Paul To Focus On Jobs

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton and key Republican lawmakers are getting around the state as they focus on creating jobs.

The Democratic governor visits Brainerd on Friday on the third stop of a statewide jobs tour. Dayton will hold a summit at Central Lake College.

Meanwhile, legislative committees focused on jobs, higher education and the environment are getting out of the Capitol Friday for visits around the state.

The Senate Jobs and Economic Growth Committee meets Friday with the chamber of commerce and tours a pop bottling plant in St. Cloud, while the Senate higher education committee visits community and technical college campuses in Brooklyn Park, Anoka and Coon Rapids.

Legislative environment panels are taking a forestry tour with stops in Hackensack, Cass Lake and Bemidji.
