MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Carlton County police said rescuers found the body of the 24-year-old man who drowned Monday afternoon after the St. Louis River pulled him downstream.

Police said rescuers found the man’s body at around 8:15 p.m. in 8 – 10 feet of water in the Jay Cooke State Park.

Search crews began looking for the man at around 5 p.m. when his girlfriend, who was swimming with him, called 911, police said.

The man’s identity will be given after his family is notified.

Was it the boyfriend who is lost? I hope they find safe whoever got swept downriver.

Anyone who SWIMS in a river is totally dumb. You wade in a river and wear a life jacket while doing so! The closest thing to swiming in a river,is hiking in bear country covered with berry juice! You look good, and feel good until you don’t !! and it shouldn’t come as a surprise!
