MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — If you haven’t noticed, there’s been an emergence of folks brewing beer in Minnesota, and this craft beer craze has catapulted smaller breweries into the mainstream.

You may remember the Surly bill that changed state law. The Brooklyn Center brewery helped push through legislation that will let Minnesota breweries sell beer on site.

Surly proposed a $20 million “destination brewery” where the company can sell its frosty brew, but it’s not just about Surly and Summit anymore.

“People are realizing that beer is more than simply an alcohol delivery system,” said Jason Alvey of The Four Firkins in St. Louis Park. “People are drinking beer for the flavor.”

The Autumn Brew Review is being held this Saturday at the Old Grain Belt Brewery in Northeast Minneapolis. It’s the biggest craft beer festival in Minnesota.

The Brew Review will give everyone a chance to see the breadth and diversity of our local brews, from pale ales to porters and stouts.
