Twins Blog: Looking Ahead To 2012

Are you over of the Twins 2011 season? Have the wounds from repeated injuries and losses got you down? Have you already packed up your Twins gear? Then it's time to look ahead to 2012!

The Twins' new schedule was released this morning -- and there is a lot to look forward to.

The Twins open the 2012 season on the road Friday, April 6 in Baltimore to face the Orioles. They play three games there.

The first home game is Monday, April 9 against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The team is off on Tuesday then finish the series on April 11 and 12.

The start of the season will be a big test for the team, as they face some steep competition off the bat. After opening at home with the Angels, the team will host the Rangers (April 13-15), then head back East. They'll face the Yankees (April 16-19), the Tampa Bay Rays (April 20-22) and Boston Red Sox (April 23-25).

One of the fastest sell-out weekends is when the Twins host the Yankees. So mark your calendars for Sept. 24-26.

Interleague will be good this season, too. The Chicago Cubs will come to town for the first time since 2006 on June 8-10. The Philadelphia Phillies will be at Target Field on June 12-14. Alert your Wisconsin friends, the Milwaukee Brewers will cross the border on June 15-17.

The All-Star break is Tuesday, July 10 in Kansas City -- not too far for some of the best tailgating and BBQ.

The Twins will close the 2012 season on the road in Toronto.

Tickets don't go on sale for a few more months. Also, the Spring Training schedule won't be available until January.
