Coach Kill Released From Hospital Today
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Gophers head football coach Jerry Kill was released from the hospital on Thursday, according to the University of Minnesota.
Team physician Dr. Pat Smith said Kill was released around noon Thursday and is now resting at home.
"I'm pleased to report that Coach Kill has been discharged from care," said Smith in a released statement. "He is in good spirits and eager to get back to work. He has no restrictions and is free to return to work when he feels up to it."
Kill suffered a seizure during the last seconds of the team's first home game on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
Smith said it's unsure when Kill would return to coach and whether or not he'll be on the sidelines for Saturday's game against Miami (Ohio). He said that decision is up to Kill.
Kill twice had seizures late in games while coaching at Southern Illinois, once in 2001 and again in 2005. He also collapsed and had a seizure while taping a television show in 2006. Each time, he was able to return to work without missing a game.
Kill has been taking medication to control the seizures for years, some of which doctors say stem from his treatment for kidney cancer.
