MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota Legislator Jim Abeler had to deal with news Thursday morning that was tougher than any bill he might vote on at the State Capitol.

His son, Josiah Abeler, died unexpectedly Wednesday night from a seizure in his sleep.

Josiah was 22 years old and was in the business school at Bethel University in St. Paul. He also worked at Costco. The Abeler family said funeral arrangements are still pending at this time.

Jim Abeler is a Republican out of District 48B and serves as the chair of the Health and Human Services Finance Committee. He is also on the Health and Human Services Reform Committee and the Ways and Means Committee.

My thoughts are with the Abeler family. Jim has been such a strong advocate for epilepsy awareness in Minnesota and this is very sad news.
