MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) — A pedestrian was struck and killed along Interstate 494 in Mendota Heights, Minn. late Friday evening.

According to the State Patrol, the accident happened just before 9 p.m. A minor crash occurred along the eastbound side of the interstate near Highway 55.

Each of the two vehicles involved stopped on opposite sides of the roadway, the State Patrol reported.

When one of the two drivers started walking to the other side of the road, that driver was struck by a van driving in the center lane.

That person was killed at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
