Weather Blog: Much-Needed Rain On The Way

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The clouds hung around Saturday, but no rain fell. And that's been the case for most of the month.

A mere .02 inches of rain has been recorded at the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport, which has led to a 1.77 inch rainfall deficit for September thus far. We need some rain!

Mother Nature will finally provide some drops for the rain gauge Saturday night as an area of low pressure approaches the state. Expect showers to develop after midnight with showers likely early Sunday morning. Scattered showers will continue through much of Sunday as the low moves east. With the clouds and rain activity, highs will not escape the mid 60s.

High pressure will settle in briefly Monday, making for mostly sunny conditions and warmer high temperatures in the low to mid 70s. The next weather system cruises in Tuesday, bringing a return of clouds and the chance for rain, especially across northeastern Minnesota, where areas of severe drought persist.
