9-Year-Old St. Paul Boy Killed In Wis. Rollover

MADISON, Wis. (WCCO/AP) -- Wisconsin authorities released the name of a 9-year-old boy who was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 90 near Madison.

Alonzo Stevenson of St. Paul, Minn. was killed when the 50-year-old driver of a 1994 GMC SUV fell asleep at the wheel, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.  The crash happened about 3:40 a.m. Saturday.

The driver woke up when the vehicle hit the rumble strips on the side of the interstate. The driver then over-corrected, lost control of the vehicle, rolling it into the ditch. The boy was ejected from the vehicle.

Two other passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver was not hurt in the accident.

An autopsy performed by the Dane County medical examiner's office confirmed Alonzo died of injuries sustained in the crash.
