The Minnesota Twins were the guardians of peace and justice in the Central Division before the dark times … before the 2011 season.

Ok, it wasn’t that long ago or very far away, BUT the Twins used to play the “Star Wars” theme every time they hit a homerun at the Metrodome. When I close my eyes, I can still see Kirby rounding the bases while John Williams’ masterpiece is blasting out the speakers. My two favorite things were forever connected.

The connection ended when the Twins moved to Target Field, but it didn’t seem to have any effect Twins … until this season.

That’s one reason why Tuesday’s “Star Wars Night” at Target Field is so important. That theme needs to be blasting out of Target Field’s speakers … after a Luke Hughes bomb.

Star Wars Night at Target Field is perfect because the Twins really need a new hope.
